The Blurb:
During her abduction and assault, Audrey begins to hear a voice.
She hopes she's not going crazy, because after what she's experienced, that's
the most logical explanation. However, as she begins to listen to the voice,
Audrey realizes that someone may be telepathically trying to help her.
Unfortunately, rescue isn't all she needs. In order to leave
behind the constant reminders, she flees to her Aunt Kate's house in San Diego,
and assumes a new identity. It works until the eighteen-year-old twin boys who
live next door threaten to break through the protective walls she's worked so
hard to build.
Between Caleb going out of his way to befriend her and Justin
avoiding her at all costs, Audrey doesn't know if normalcy will ever find her
again. But one thing is certain: When a familiar danger resurfaces, it's the
same voice that she turns to -- a voice that is not only real, but a lot closer
than she realizes.
Gripping and tastefully told, The Voice is a story of healing,
trust, and courage.
Review:
Audrey’s world has been ripped apart, leaving her as only a
shell of her former self. So what else
is there to do but ship her off to a place where no one will know her, or know
what happened to her at the hands of her demented uncle? Her Aunt Kate is a refreshing change from her
parents, helping her begin the healing process.
But her Aunt Kate is not the only one who is helping her
heal. Next door lives two teenage boys,
twins, who become a vital part of her life.
She’s drawn to the quiet one, the one who completely ignores her. She thinks he hates her, but Justin is hiding
a secret that could shatter her after all this time. Caleb, the outgoing twin, treats her like the
little sister he never had.
When the threatening notes and phone calls begin, she fears that
her Uncle has somehow gotten out of jail.
But it is much more sinister than that.
Audrey’s life is spinning out of control, and only one person can help
her: The Voice that has spoken in her mind since she was held against her will by
her Uncle.
I really enjoyed this book.
What happened to Audrey is heart breaking, and some might not be able to
handle just thinking about it, but it is done in such a safe way that only your
heart strings will be affected. The
author does a fantastic job weaving a story that will grab your attention from
the first page. You won’t be able to put
it down.
This is a unique story that will leave you staring at the book,
wondering when the next one will be available.
It’s literally THAT good. Plus,
who doesn't like the idea of twins? They
are both so unique that you can’t help but give away a small part of your heart
to each of them. I’ll be waiting on edge
to find out what happens next. There is
a next, right??
