Review of De Ann Townes Jr.'s book Peer Inside My Soul and See Me

When I was first approached about reviewing De Ann Townes Jr.’s book, I was wondering if I would be able to be able to give her a glowing review.  I am not typically a huge fan of poetry, only reading a little here and there.  But my fears are allayed!  I loved her book, Peer Inside My Soul and See Me, as the poems contained within its covers are beautiful.  The collection of poems spoke to my heart as they are filled with love and loss, pleasure and pain.  The descriptions of emotions in the poems are lovely and contain a lyrical quality that I have not seen in most contemporary poetry today.  As I read each one, they spoke to me on multiple levels, encompassing not only the physical, but the emotional and spiritual level as well.

There are so many things that I could say about De Ann’s book, but this is neither a college classroom, nor is it right for me to deprive the reader of the poetical experience that they deserve.  This book is truly a view into De Ann’s soul, as nothing has the ability to strip you bare like poetry and writing.  So, please, read De Ann’s book, and be moved as I was.  Truly peer inside her soul and see her as the wonderful poet that she is!  I wholeheartedly recommend that everyone read Peer Inside My Soul and See Me!

(This book was provided by the author for review.  No compensation was given in return for a good review!)
